Detailed tour description:
We will start by picking you up from your accommodation. We will then take a route that will allow you to fully experience the beautiful scenery of our island. As we head north, we'll stop at the following sites:
North: 1000 steps - Really only 72 steps, this stop offers extraordinary scenery and dive site full of brain and staghorn corals. Wading in open water, you might come face to face with several animals, ranging from turtles to devil rays, dolphins and harmless nurse sharks. Of course, this site makes for some people one of the best snorkelling places in the Caribbean.
Goto Lake - This lake is home and sanctuary to many pink flamingos. Goto Lake offers pretty amazing views and reminds you that you're in the heart of paradise!
Rincon - Rincon is the smallest and oldest village in Bonaire and the southern Caribbean. Rincon has maintained its rich Spanish history and culture. The village possesses great natural treasures such as original Bonairian houses from times that the slaves lived there. There are also countless festivities and activities year round. Most popular is “Dia di Rincon”
Para Mira Rincon – this highest point on one off the hills around Ricon shows you astonishing views all over Rincon upto the eastcoast and westcoast off Bonaire.
Cadushy Distillery - Have you ever tried drinking a cactus before? In the traditional distillery of Cadushy you can see how the world's only liqueur made from cactus is created right on the premises, and of course, we invite you to sample some for yourself! Come and see the ancient ‘Kas di Hala’ heritage house and Cinelandia, Bonaire’s oldest theatre.
Magazina di Rei - High on a hill in a beautiful and timeless setting you can find a large solitary white building above an open field dotted with small traditional houses. The Mangazina di Rei (1824) was used by the Dutch government to store provisions for the slaves. The second oldest stone building on Bonaire now forms part of a cultural park where young and elder Bonaireans are working together to keep their traditional customs alive. Located at the east entrance of the village of Rincon.
Seru Largu - Seru Largu will set you up for a breath taking panoramic view of Bonaire. The view overlooks the entire southern part of the island. The hill that separates the lower Southern part of the island from our “mountains” in the North. There is a monument on top, built in the year 2000 as a millennium monument in honour of the Virgin Mary.
South: Salt flats - With a comfortably dry climate and steady trade winds Bonaire has long been recognized as an ideal locale for the production of salt. Salt is still produced on Bonaire, and the stunning salt beds of Pekelmeer are also home to one of the hemisphere's great populations of flamingos. The salt flats spread out in great squares of brilliant color, ranging from the turquoise of newly-flooded areas and the livid pink of pools filled with brine shrimp to the blinding white of dried salt. Off to the side lie enormous mounds of dried and drying salt, and in the distance stand great flocks of flamingos, happily supping on shrimp (which is responsible for their pink color).
Slave Huts - Slave quarters, rising no higher than a man's waist and built entirely of stone, stand in the area along the saltpans as a grim reminder of Bonaire's repressive past of slavery from 1633 to 1862.
Willems Toren Lighthouse - The Willems Toren Lighthouse (also known as Lacre Punt Light) is located at the Southern tip of the island of Bonaire and is 75 ft (23 m) high. It has a solar-powered beacon. It is south of the slave huts and the salt production facilities on the Southern part of the island.
Sorobon Beach - Located at Lac Bay, you'll be greeted by sandy white beaches and gorgeous turquoise water that's no more than 2 - 3 feet (1 meter) deep at most points. With protected sea grasses to promote healthy this beach is ideal for families with children, sun bathing, snorkelling and windsurfing. Some wonderful restaurants, tiki style bars and beach wear shops are located here.
We take you back to the centre of Bonaire along mangrove swamps and beautiful sites.
So: Discover Bonaire with us! You'll see all this and much, much more on your Voyager Bonaire guided tour.
*This tour is suitable for all ages*.

Tour Description: Washington Slagbaai
Book now
Enjoy convenient pickup from your Bonaire Hotel and head to the Washington Slagbaai National Park which is located in the northern end of Bonaire. It comprises of two former land plantations, Washington & Slagbaai, totaling just under 14,000 acres. These two plantations once supplied salt, charcoal, aloe extract, divi-divi pods, and goats for export to Curaçao and Europe. The Washington Plantation was secured in 1969, upon the death of the owner "Boy" Herrera. He negotiated with the government to take over the plantation upon his death with the condition that it was to remain undeveloped for the enjoyment of the people.
The WNP was founded (May 9, 1969), the first Nature Sanctuary of the Netherlands Antilles. In 1979, the Slagbaai land plantation was negotiated and added to create the WSNP. The park is managed by STINAPA Bonaire. When you arrive at the park there is a museam which you can visit free of charge. In the park you will find habitats of native birds and reptiles. Look for parrots, flamingos, parakeets, and iguanas.
You will learn about the history of Bonaire's Caiquetio Indians. In the park there are 2 beautiful lighthouses, Lighthouse Malmok is a ruin but still intact and Seru Ventana is still in use. In this tour you have the opportunity for a quick dip into the crystal clear water or for snorkeling in thriving marine habitats filled with exotic fish. Snap a few photos of the dramatic rock formations nearby or explore more of the sanctuary's trails before driving back to the city. This tour is very exciting, while driving you think you are in a jungle or in a desert. Sometimes you think you are at the coast of Normandie.
